“A sentencing date will not be set until prosecutors decide whether they will retry kernel on the deadlocked charge” [...]
You can’t retry a deadlocked kernel. The only way out is a hard reset.
Usually, when I have dreams, they last a long time to the point where they become stories with plots and characters. Not last night. If I could draw, I would illustrate it. All I remember was a room with a sepia tone and a man around 9 feet tall, but his body was disproportionate. His arms, head, and torso were of the right sizes, but it was his legs that made him tall – almost as if he had on stilts. He wore a pinstriped suit, with an oversized black top hat. In his right hand was a gold leash tethered to a wad of purple Play-Doh that had a diameter of roughly 10 inches. The man didn’t talk, but in the dream, I knew its name was Mr. Burger. I don’t believe it was sentient, but only because I didn’t see it move.
The new Crystal Castles album is really good. A lot of people are saying it’s not as good as the first; it doesn’t have as many bleeps and bloops, but it is pretty melodic, which I like. This one is definitely a keeper.

Passion Pit’s Manners wasn’t that great. I listened to it about five times and just never could get into it. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t feel the desire to listen to it anymore, much less keep it.
I was able to go out today. :S I got every bit of my school work done last night so that I wouldn’t have to worry about any of it today, or for the rest of the week.
I’ve been looking forever for these:

and finally found them. :D I also found these little candy tins shaped and designed like an NES controller. They looked pretty dorky, but I liked them anyway. I went looking for new shirts today in the mall and found some flannels that I really like, but stores never seem to carry shirts I like in a size small. I’ll have to go back some time this week and see if there are any in stock. I also ordered a new battery for my ThinkPad last night. It’s not had a battery in over 2 years and I’m wishing more and more that I had one so I just bit the bullet (well, my wallet) and plunked down $50 for one from a seller on Amazon. That’s pretty good considering Lenovo directly sells them for $200. Hm. I found some flip-flops at Wal-Mart for $2 a pair (is that even a bargain?); I’ve needed some badly and I’m hoping that for that price, they don’t contain some sort of chemical that makes my feet rot off.
So, I have no more plans for the day. :( But. I think I will just sit on my ass and watch D. Gray-Man episodes and read more out of River of Gods. I should be reading Jude the Obscure for class, though. Oh well. I might look for a new theme for this site. Actually, I was recommended that I listen to Passion Pit, so I’ll get around to doing that. My goal for this week is to look for a cigar shop. I dream pretty big. It’s too bad Charlotte doesn’t have any hookah bars. :/
…when you can no longer listen to a certain artist or group because you were going through a very rough patch at the time you discovered it. It’s awful. It’s like smelling something for the first time in your life since you were a kid and then remembering what it was like at that point in time not having to worry about anything and enjoying everything around you. Nostalgia. It makes me wonder about what I’m currently taking for granted.

Something for a change, finally. I’ve been listening to Bibio, lately. It reminds me a bit of Boards of Canada, which is good. I’ve been trying to find some stickers for my laptop, namely GNOME, WordPress, Laughing Squid, and a few others. It’s kind of hard to find them. :(
Time for a story. Some time at the beginning of 2004, I received a box full of computer parts from a friend, including a case with a fitted motherboard. I built a server that I use to this day out of said parts. The highest capacity drives in there were a Western Digital 40GB and a Hitachi Deskstar 80GB. You read that right. A DeathstarDeskstar. I used it as the master drive (still do) and immediately noticed a clicking followed by a strange beep. I was still able to read/write to it (at normal times, too!) and ignored these strange sounds. Fast forward to now. I hadn’t heard about the woes of the Deskstar until this evening when I came across a YouTube video of a guy describing the “click of death.” In it, he demonstrated what it sounded like, beeps and all. So, sure enough, I’ve been using a bad drive for my backups for 6 years…and I don’t think I’m going to swap it anytime soon (I have no money, okay.). I have all of its data set to back up to that 40GB drive once a week. I’m sure I’ll wake up one morning to find that it’s completely dead, but until then… 0:D
